For years, the Faculty and administration of Cameron High helped to establish its curriculum as the envy of the educational community making it a powerful magnet for students and educators everywhere. As Cameron's reputation grew locally and across the country in The Arts, Science, Drama, Theatre, Music and Athletics, the school quickly became one of the premiere institutions within the Nashville/Metro System. Cameron was the first school within the entire system, for example, to have programs in Guidance, Physical Education, Counseling and Art and one of only three (3) high schools in Nashville to be assigned the first Assistant Principal. Many teachers at Cameron High were consistently elevated to administrative positions within the Nashville/Metro School Board.
We are extremely proud, therefore, to give our former faculty this opportunity to address the Cameron Family everywhere. We will feature a different faculty member each month to make Faculty Comments. This month is Jessie L. Owen, former Registrar/Faculty at Cameron High (1946-69).
